About the Programme

Ashy is a speck of dust lodging in a neon light factory.  Over the years, with the help of his old friend, Mr. Windy, he has witnessed a myriad of worldly landscapes.  Now, captivated by the colourful neon lights, he is deeply moved by the dedicated craftsmanship of the master neon light artisan and decides to settle there.  Seeing the master gradually annoyance, although Ashy knows his own insignificance, he hopes to do something for the master.  Ashy plans to gather friends from various corners of the dust world and, with their tiniest efforts, accomplish something significant to cheer and support the master.

The Pop-up Book Story Theatre presents an extraordinary showcase of unexpected pop-up books, page after page, at the heart of its performance.  These books are ingeniously crafted with hidden mechanisms, adding delightful surprises and bringing the stories to life.  Moreover, the performance incorporates various elements that contribute to its enchantment, including intricate paper art props, objects, mesmerizing lighting effects, captivating storytelling narration, expressive physical movements, and live music.

About the Artist

Lau Ming-hang, a well-known Pop-up book theatre creator, paper artist and theatre lighting designer.  Lau directed and created numerous works during these ten years whch combines three-dimensional paper-cutting, light and shadow, and theatre performance aesthetics, his works include Dance Me to the Trees and The Good．Old．Days.  Lau has been nomiated Best Lighting Design at the Hong Kong  Drama Awards many times and his design works include The Three Sisters by Theatre du pif and Bird-Watching by Rebecca  Wong.  His paper-cut works have been exhibited  in Hsin Chu City Art Site of Railway Waregiyse and Paper．Cut Art Exhibition by Artspace K.
