M06e | A monument not forgotten by the City: A visit to Law Uk
(Completed)

The Hakka people are one of the main Chinese groups living in Hong Kong.  Chai Wan, where several Hakka villages were established, has undergone rapid urban development over the past decades.  A village house "Law Uk" (Law's house) of the Hakka village has been preserved, and it's named after its original owners.  The history of the house can be dated back over 200 years ago, during the reign of Qing Emperor Qianlong (1736-1795).  Docents will introduce this typical Hakka village house and its artefacts.  Students will know more about the history of Chai Wan, as well as the history and architecture of Law Uk and Hakka customs.
