About the Programme

In the final days of the Qing Dynasty, China had gone through the tragic experience of being invaded by the Eight-Nation Alliance.  These foreign powers coerced China into signing unequal treaties, demanded heavy indemnities in silver, and established concession districts.  During such a state of turmoil, would a tea house on the Chama Gudao (ancient Tea-Horse Road) in Yunnan be a secluded utopia of respite, or a temporary resting station in the travellers' long and winding paths of life?  Through the eyes of the protagonist who runs a tea house along the ancient trading route, we encounter many passers-by and their bizarre experiences.  Through wisdom and patriotism, the plot gives full play to the humanistic spirit and advocate cultural self-confidence.  After a brief rest here, passers-by embark on their journey anew, ready to strive for a better future.
