About the Programme

Hop on the rickshaw and embark on a journey to South Africa!  In We wear our wheels with pride, Zulu rickshaw drivers whisk you back to the bustling streets of 1920s South Africa.  Choreographer Robyn Orlin, in collaboration with South African contemporary dance icon Moving into Dance Mophatong and indigenous-electro music duo Annalyzer (Anelisa Stuurman) and Yogin Sullaphen, brings Zulu rickshaw culture to the stage in a one-of-a-kind spectacle.  Dancers, adorned in multicoloured tunics and striking feathered cattle-horn headpieces, burst into exuberant dance with a joyous thirst for life.  Audiences are swept into an electrifying fusion of dance and song that vividly embodies South African rich cultural spirit – where the pulse of revelry and the roar of celebration take centre stage!
