Let's Cines

Film is not only a kind of entertainment but also a form of art.  The Hong Kong Film Archive has selected ten films which are especially appropriate for students, including engaging and inspiring local animations, feature films that reflect the pulse of the times, and film adaptations of literary classics that align with the new senior secondary Chinese Language curriculum.  Post-screening talks conducted by well-known film critics will further enable students to understand the unique position that film holds in our history and culture.

Hong Kong may be known as an international financial centre and innovation hub today, but back in the 1960s, Hong Kong's economy was largely dependent on manufacturing. Many women joined the assembly lines, leading to the phenomenon known as 'factory girls'They became an integral part of Hong Kong's rapid economic development. Shoe factory worker Wai-fong (Ting Ying) is kind, energetic and beloved by many, but looked down upon because of her profession.  She disguises her identity and instead tells the wealthy Wai-lun (Cheung Ying-choi) that she is a rich heiress.  Little does she know that Wai-lun is actually a driver who is also feigning his wealth.  Will the couple drop their façades and learn that honesty is the key to true love?
