About the Programme 

Do you dance?  No?  How come?  Have you ever thought that – when you're so angry you stamp your feet, when you're so happy you spin in circles, when you shake your head in resistance, and so on… everything is dance.

As media of communication, dance conveys emotions and thoughts through the body.  Over the course of history, dance has gradually evolved into an art form.  Contemporary dance, while seemingly abstract, holds infinite possibilities – its openness and inclusiveness allow both professional dancers and ordinary audiences to find their place within it.  It is not bound by fixed patterns; everyone can express themselves and embrace our uniqueness through dance.

The School Cultural Day Programme for 2025/26, organised by the City Contemporary Dance Company, will showcase the unique charm of contemporary dance through high-quality dance excerpts.  The performance will blend rich stage elements, creating unexpected reactions.  The programme will introduce the characteristics and appreciation directions of contemporary dance, fostering students' personal cultural cultivation and enhancing their artistic appreciation skills.  Through sharing sessions, participants will gain insights into choreographers' processes, such as discovering inspiration, conveying ideas, integrating visual imagery, developing concepts, and connecting body language…
