PAC04 | Student Workshop – Experience Cantonese Opera (Primary School) by The Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong

About the Programme

Cantonese opera is a cultural treasure and one of the most popular art forms in Hong Kong.  In 2009, Cantonese opera was officially inscribed onto the UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity making it the first item of the world intangible cultural heritage in Hong Kong.  With the aim of the inheritance of Cantonese opera, the Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong has been supported by the Cantonese Opera Development Fund and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department to launch the Cantonese Opera Young Talent Showcase since 2012.

Student workshops will be organised from October 2025 to January 2026 at Ko Shan Theatre New Wing Auditorium for our younger generations to experience the charisma of Cantonese opera.  The workshops will include an introduction of the basic knowledge of Cantonese opera with demonstrations, followed by Cantonese Opera excerpts performance and interactive session.  A programme booklet will be provided to facilitate the students to have extended learning on the Cantonese opera.

Performing Excerpt: Scene 1 from Beauty in Disguise, and Stealing of Immortal Herbs from The Legend of the White Snake
